Privacy Policy
ModernTax is a service of Rapidly Financial, Inc. (“ModernTax”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we collect when you use moderntax.io, the ModernTax portal (portal.moderntax.io) and our API, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information about the people who use ModernTax on behalf of our clients and the tax professionals who work orders for us: name, business email, phone number, company, and role.
- Taxpayer information our clients submit to request IRS records: business or individual name, taxpayer identification number, address, the signed IRS authorization (such as Form 8821), and the IRS transcripts we retrieve under that authorization.
- Usage and device information such as log data, IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to operate and secure the service.
- Billing information. Payments are processed by our payment providers; we do not store full card or bank account numbers.
How we use information
- To provide the service: request, retrieve, screen and deliver IRS records that a taxpayer has authorized.
- To send operational messages about orders, accounts, billing and security, by email, in the portal and, where you have agreed, by text message.
- To bill for the service, prevent fraud and abuse, keep the service secure, and meet legal and regulatory obligations.
- To improve the service in aggregated or de-identified form.
How we share information
- With the client that placed the order, who receives the records the taxpayer authorized.
- With the IRS, to request records under the taxpayer’s authorization.
- With service providers that host, secure and operate the service for us (for example cloud hosting, email and text-message delivery, and payments), under contracts that limit their use of the information to providing those services.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of ModernTax, our clients or others.
We do not sell personal information.
Text messages (SMS)
ModernTax sends operational text messages only to people who have agreed to receive them, for example tax professionals who opt in on their ModernTax profile, and portal users who text our number. Messages are about work you are doing with us: IRS call bookings and callback times, orders ready to work, IRS sign-in links, and replies to messages you send us. We do not send marketing text messages.
- Message frequency varies with your activity. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to stop receiving messages, or HELP for help (see our Text Message Terms). You can also contact support@moderntax.io.
- Your consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase.
- We do not sell, rent or share mobile phone numbers or text-message opt-in data and consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information is shared only with the providers that deliver our messages, and only to deliver them.
Security
We protect information with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, multi-factor authentication for portal accounts, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to the people who need it.
Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, to meet our contractual obligations to clients, and to comply with legal, tax and regulatory requirements, and then delete or de-identify it.
Your choices
You can ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal and contractual limits (for example records we must keep for a client or by law). Email support@moderntax.io. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP, and out of non-essential email by using the link in the message.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell account holders about material changes.
